THE BRIEF
The client required a full redesign andupgrade of an existing bathroomand adjoining study to improve accessibility, future-proof the space, and enhance everyday functionality. The original layout was cramped, dated, and not suitable for the client’s long-term mobility needs.
The project presented several challenges:
- Integrating NDIS accessibility requirements within a compact footprint
- Managing asbestos considerations
- Coordinating structural alterations to accommodate the new layout
- Working within an occupied home while minimising disruption to the client’s daily life
In addition, the client requested an enhanced layout featuring a freestanding bath positioned under a new window, upgraded fixtures, improved lighting and ventilation, and wall reinforcements for future grab rails. Several design adjustments were made during pre-construction as the client refined their layout and fixture selections.
